Bangkok Handstand Festival

My work reflects all the good feelings I get from doing what I love.

Dear friends,

It’s May here, and I’m the organizer of the Bangkok Handstand Festival.

I am humbly excited to share with you this message about what’s behind the upcoming Bangkok Handstand Festival and the goodness that comes with it.

To start with – In 2023, we organized Thailand Acro Fest, which brought together more than 200 people from all over the world. We engaged in acroyoga, acrobatics, Icarian games, handstands, and other activities like performances and Thai massage. However, the world of acrobatics is still distant from our local community, so I believe it’s a great time to focus on one specific thing to build a greater community. Handstands have been picked up.

But why? – Handstands are one of the fundamental disciplines in acrobatics and can also be viewed as their own distinct art form, specifically concentrating on the beauty of hand balancing and performance. Bangkok is home to many amazing handstand practitioners, talents, and teachers, and I believe that coming together to share the art of practicing at the festival truly benefits us all.

That’s all the ideas to begin with. However, my work always drives with heart, and I’m happy that it has spread and grown into quality.

It's the beauty of art.
It's the love of art that I want to share.

The Bangkok Handstand Festival was created to bring people together to celebrate the art of hand balancing, the joy of being upside down, and to foster community connections. Our intention is to create a supportive environment where everyone can meet others, exchange ideas, and learn from both teachers and friends.

The festival is nothing without the great collaboration of the people around me who join forces as a team. It’s such a beautiful thing to notice this quality in people. As I started the engine, our team keeps putting in the fuel, and together with you, we all drive in the same vehicle that leads us on this journey.

The first Bangkok Handstand Festival will feature both local and international teachers and friends I’ve known for a long time in the upside-down community, including Hakim, Sunshine, Joh, John, Sam, and Raquel from Yogaslackers, along with myself and my partner, Vesse. In addition to handstands and acro teachers, we will also incorporate enjoyable community activities, such as ice baths by Ice House and slacklining with Kwan from Yogaslackers.

May (Organizer)

Probably, like many of you, I’m a little bit of everything I’ve encountered in life. I’m filled with many versions of myself, and in every second step, I am true to myself. My ethos is simple: lead with heart and do everything with love. My goal as an event organizer is to bring people together to share, learn, and be part of the experiences we have.
